TV time in our home is considered a special event. The kids get excited when it's movie time, and that's exactly what happened when we sat down the other day as a family and watched "Buck Denver asks, Why do they call it Christmas?". The creator of this video is the same person who created Veggie Tales, and you won't be disappointed in the content or quality of this movie.
As a mom who tries hard to keep Christ as the center of Christmas, I give this video 5 stars. It not only kept their attention...it kept mine. My husband and I admittedly learned some new things about Christmas trees, Santa Clause, and stockings...and yes, the video uses all of these things to point back to Christ.
Before watching this I wanted to know what age group this video was geared toward. I have 4 children, ages 2 to 9, and I was curious to see if it would keep them all entertained. While the educational details are geared toward an older age group, say 5-12, my 2 and 3 year olds very much enjoyed the movie. While I don't think they were able to understand all of the details, I am convinced children understand and retain more than we believe they do.
So, if you're looking for a movie that educates, entertains, and is an
example of good quality entertainment, then you'll want this movie for
your little ones.
We'll continue to do the elf on the shelf, Santa, and sing Rudolf songs, but our main traditions during this season will be about Christ. And because of that, we will continue to use this movie as a part of our Christmas tradition.
