He told me he had a story. He couldn't wait to share it, but he warned me...
"It's going to make you cry."
I hate crying. So. Much.
I don't rent the girly, sappy, Lifetime movies.
I don't believe in "a good cry".
I think tears are over rated, so naturally, this wasn't the preview I wanted.
But, when you've been around children all day, any adult conversation will do. {Sorry, Honey, tis true.}
He had to announce to his employees that there was a problem with payroll nationwide. He had to tell them their check wouldn't come until Monday. It was Friday, which meant the check was already a day late. For some, that news is no big deal. For others, it's devastating. He admitted he'd wanted to retreat. Like, leave the premises retreat...not to return til Monday. He's soft hearted and knew the stories would make their way to his office.
While there were stories of bills that wouldn't get paid, lights will be cut off, gas money isn't there...
I was already tearful. I was reconsidering the benefits of adult conversation.
There was one story...this guy whose wife called earlier that day to check on him. See, he'd not made it home since Tuesday. He hadn't enough money for gas to make it to and from work, so instead of not coming to work, he didn't go home.
He slept in his truck, at least that was the rumor, at a nearby store.
Oh, my heart ached.
And so, at the end of the day, Honey still couldn't get him off his mind. He drove to the spot where he'd heard he'd be. He combed the parking lot.
Nothing.
Then {I'm sure} the Holy Spirit pressed him to look further...behind the store.
There sat his truck.
He wasn't there. So, Honey parked and combed the store, determined to find the one that the Lord put on his heart.
Once he found him, he asked him if he had money to get home.
"No" was his simple reply.
"Let's go to the gas station."
The man followed, saying 1/2 a tank should do.
Honey told him the Lord put him on his mind and he was going to fill his truck up.
Then he told Honey the story. My best friend died. His funeral is tomorrow and I wasn't goin' to be able to go."
Honey insisted he call his wife, let her know he was ok. So, he borrowed Honey's phone.
"I'm comin' home", he said.
"You got paid?", she replied.
"No, but the Lord sent me a blessin'."
Who has the Lord put on your heart? On your mind?
Don't miss out on the opportunity to be a blessin'.
Now you made me cry.
ReplyDeleteAdult conversation IS over-rated.
God is good, all the time!
I can't see the computer screen now...
ReplyDeleteOH my goodness... angels are amongst us. Your honey is one of them! Thanks for sharing!
